Team Endurance Rides

Under the name FLECHE / TRACE are grouped the classic team endurance rides ridden entirely on a self-supported basis during organized events, under the coordination and according to the rules established by Audax Club Parisien, the organization responsible for validating and homologating participants’ results. Since 2017, these rides have also been organized in Romania.
Traditionally, these events take place during the spring season, usually around Easter, with the following objectives:

  • building a strong spirit of camaraderie and teamwork;
  • striving together for 24 hours to achieve a common challenge, regardless of fitness level or weather conditions;
  • meeting and socializing with fellow randonneurs from across the country, region, or province.

A unique experience that should be part of every randonneur’s career!

Overview

Flèche consists of a team of 3–5 cyclists riding as many kilometers as possible within 24 hours, with a minimum distance of 360 km (plus/minus 20% of the announced distance), on a route chosen by the team captain, including at least 25 km during the final 2 hours of the ride. All teams finish at the same location, where the traditional post-event gathering takes place.
In Romania, according to the provisions of the Flèche Regulations, two annual events are organized:
Flèche România (first edition in 2017), finishing in Valea Lungă (Dâmbovița County), organized by the National Representative, and Flèche Transilvania (first edition in 2020), finishing in Cluj-Napoca, organized by the Regional Representative of Cluj.

Trace consists of a team of 2–6 cyclists riding a distance between 201 and 360 km, with a mandatory overnight break (usually between 22:00 and 06:00), on a route chosen by the team captain. All teams finish at the same location as the participating Flèche teams, within the time interval established by the organizer. For Trace România, the route must be completed within a maximum of 28 hours from the start.
In Romania, according to the provisions of the Trace Regulations, the annual event Trace România (first edition in 2018) finishes in Valea Lungă (Dâmbovița County) and is organized by the National Representative.

Flèche-Pop, the popular team endurance ride created by Randonneurs România, consists of a team of 3–5 cyclists riding a route of 90–120 km within a maximum of 8 hours, either proposed by the organizer or designed by the team captain. All teams finish at the same location as the participating Flèche and Trace teams.
In Romania, according to the provisions of the Flèche-Pop Regulations, the annual event Flèche-Pop România (first edition in 2026) finishes in Valea Lungă (Dâmbovița County) and is organized by the National Representative.

In addition to these three organized (audax) team endurance rides, three permanent versions are also available:
Arrow (equivalent of Flèche), Dart (equivalent of Trace), and Arrow-Pop (equivalent of Flèche-Pop), all coordinated by Randonneurs România and intended to strengthen the team spirit.

Each of these rides is included in the annual endurance awards offered by Randonneurs România at the end of the season. Furthermore, Flèche, the flagship ride of this category, is counted towards the international Randonneur 10,000 award offered by Audax Club Parisien.
