About the Event

DANUBE ROAD Randonneur is a BRM1200+ endurance cycling event organized in Romania by Randonneurs România and the Adevărații VeloPrieteni Association under the license of Les Randonneurs Mondiaux. The event occupies a distinctive place within the Romanian brevet calendar and offers a very long-distance cycling experience built around self-sufficiency, navigation, endurance and compliance with the specific rules governing randonneuring events. The event is organized every four years. The first edition took place between 10–15 August 2018, during the Centenary Year of the Great Union of Romania, opening a four-year cycle of major European ultra-distance brevets, with 61 cyclists from 3 countries taking the start. The second edition was held between 26–31 August 2022, during the Centenary Year of the Coronation of the Kings of Romania in Alba Iulia, with 53 participants from 10 countries at the start.

Essential Information

Current Edition

In 2026, the 3rd edition of Danube Road Randonneur will be organized. This BRM1200+ ultra brevet takes place every four years and has welcomed international participation since its inaugural edition in 2018. Riders from 10 countries took part in the second edition.

Dates

The 3rd edition of Danube Road Randonneur will take place between 15–19 August 2026. The start will be on 15 August at 09:00, while the finish control will close on 19 August at 21:35.

Distance

The route covers 1303 km with more than 6200 metres of elevation gain. Most of the course follows roads along the Romanian and Serbian banks of the Danube and includes sections of EuroVelo 6 and EuroVelo 13.

Start / Finish

The event starts and finishes in Videle, a town located near Bucharest. The start control will be located at the Town Hall / Stadium area, while the finish control will be hosted by the Morometescu family with support from the local cycling community and the Municipality of Videle.

Format

Participants must complete the homologated route within the time limit of 108 hours and 35 minutes to obtain official homologation and brevet certification. Several organized control points along the route provide hydration, food, rest opportunities and logistical support. Rider validation is carried out through the Brevet Card electronic application.

Registration

Registration is limited to 100 places and will be open between 1 April and 16 June 2026.
